Summer Camp 2011 - Fri 16th - Sun 18th Sept 2011

From kayaking in Sliema to the Hills in Gozo...Summer Camp 2011 was characterised by water/swimming activities such as swimming lessons and canoeing to taking in some Gozitan Culture, hence the theme of camp; 'A Splash Through Culture'. Just before 7am on Sat 17th Sept, alarm clocks rang and by 8am our bus was waiting to take us to Cirkewwa. From there our full day in Gozo began! This day took the theme of 'Discovering Cultural Gozo through a lens!' as the Cubs all had cameras and snapped away bonus point photos and the places they visited in the hopes of getting extra points and of course to obtain their Photographer Badge! Whilst in Gozo, the Sliema Cubs had a treasure hunt in Cittadella, visited the Old Prisons, the Ggantija Temples, Ta Kola Windmill, Ninu's Cave and a much needed fun hour at the sea! We thank Heritage Malta (Gozo Office) for all the support they gave us. Back in Malta, the Cubs also took part in the 'Clean-Up the World Campaign' and thus Sixes took a number of roads each sweeping and collecting litter to make our locality cleaner :) A Campfire open for parents was also held in a rather different atmosphere and location - Sliema Rocky Beach near Surfside! With crowds of passers-by looking at them, the Sliema Cub Scouts were proud to present their stunts and songs to their parents. A wonderful and fun camp indeed! :D
