Easter Camp 2012 - Tarzan Goes to Verdala
As always, Easter Camp is packed with fun activities from start to end! Kicking off on Wednesday, 4th April and ending on Friday, 6th April 2012 (Good Friday), our camp included a balanced programme ranging from spiritual activities held on both Maundy Thursday and on Good Friday to physical activities such as the obstacle course around Verdala Grounds. The main activities of camp themed as 'Tarzan Hits the Jungle' included 3 different activities which all the Cubs took part in. Sixes competed for the best time for the obstacle course which involved climbing a rope ladder, passing through bushes, walking on planks and most importantly it required sixes to work as a team! Cubs then took aim at metal tins as targets during a bow & arrow activity. Bungee Running/Reach was surely a huge highlight of this camp! Cubs had to battle the soapy water and plastic to reach a target at different distances whilst at the same time try and overcome the pull from the bungee cord! The last day of camp was a bit more easy with Cubs playing a number of games and even opened up the parachute for a few games in front of the Palace. At the end, we paid a visit to the deers in the moat too! The only activites to have been cancelled were the night hike and night games in Buskett on the 1st night due to the thunder and rain..which by the way, the Cubs seemed to have enjoyed! Campfire as a group with parents was also a nice twist in camp as Cubs showed off their stunts to their parents. Halfway through camp, the Link Six Cubs crossed the line to the Troop which marks their next step in their Scouting life and which we are sure they will grow to love just as much as they enjoyed their time in Cubs. These Cubs did however, finish off camp with the Pack.
